چکیده

This study presents a challenging approach that addresses the efficient management of organic fraction municipal solid waste (OFMSW) by hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) for development novel sustainable low-CO 2 building materials. Mild HTC treatment at 180 °C h transformed low-grade OFMSW into renewable carbonaceous (hydrochar), which displays promising properties application in particleboards. Taking advantage presence extractives acting as natural binders, hydrochar particles with sizes <0.3 mm, 0.3–1 and 1–2 mm agglomerate successfully simple pressing 3 MPa 7 min room temperature (? 25 °C). The resulting binderless monolithic probes display density 838 883 kg/m finest coarsest grain sizes, respectively, approximately 30% porosity. mechanical resistance is enhanced use larger particle values modulus rupture tensile strength 21.64 18.99 are reached, respectively. thermal conductivity range 0.091–0.132 W/(m?K) suggests potential OFMSW-derived insulation panels. • Food precursor material. Hydrochar derived from food great prospects particleboard Binderless achieve ? 850 MOR 14–22 W/(m?K).

Autothermal Drying of Organic Fraction of Municipal Solid Waste

In order to take advantage of heat released during composting, the autothermal drying process requires the maintenance of adequate air flow combined with temperature. The aim of this paper was to construct a drying tunnel enabling the automatic control and regulation of the basic process parameters for biomass drying (organic fraction of municipal solid waste together with plant structural mate...

Thermochemical Pretreatments of Organic Fraction of Municipal Solid Waste from a Mechanical-Biological Treatment Plant

The organic fraction of municipal solid waste (OFMSW) usually contains high lignocellulosic and fatty fractions. These fractions are well-known to be a hard biodegradable substrate for biological treatments and its presence involves limitations on the performance of anaerobic processes. To avoid this, thermochemical pretreatments have been applied on the OFMSW coming from a full-scale mechanica...

Hydrogen production from the organic fraction of municipal solid waste in anaerobic thermophilic acidogenesis: influence of organic loading rate and microbial content of the solid waste.

Hydrogen production (HP) from the organic fraction of municipal solid waste (OFMSW) under thermophilic acidogenic conditions was studied. The effect of nine different organic loading rates (OLRs) (from 9 to 220 g TVS/l/d) and hydraulic retention times (HRTs) (from 10d to 0.25 d) was investigated. Normally, butyrate was the main acid product. The biogas produced was methane- and sulfide-free at ...

A comparative technology assessment of the anaerobic digestion of an organic fraction of municipal solid waste

Anaerobic digestion is the biological degradation process of organic matter under anoxic conditions, with production of methane and inorganic by-products, including carbon dioxide. Over the past years, many studies on anaerobic digestion of the organic fraction of municipal solid waste (OFMSW) have been carried out at a laboratory, bench and pilot scale. This work aims to summarize the main fea...

Anaerobic Treatment of the Organic Fraction of Municipal Solid Waste in Denmark

This report is based on several years of co-operation of our research groups with Danish biogas plants. Throughout the years, there has been a fruitful exchange of know-how and experiences in lab-scale on the one hand and large-scale on the other, leading to a better understanding of the principles of the anaerobic digestion process and to an optimization of its large-scale implementation. In o...
